Interstate Rejuvenate (I-75 Kentucky / Tennessee Border)

Interstate Rejuvenate reimagines the rural interstate exit as more than a scattered collection of gas stations, fast‑food pads, and asphalt islands, instead proposing a destination that restores a sense of place along the highway. The project responds to the rise of auto‑tourism, the mega‑convenience store phenomenon (such as Buc‑ee’s), and the growing demands of electric‑vehicle charging by consolidating essential motorist programs into a single “floating box” that accommodates everything from quick stops to extended stays. Positioned at a rural state border, the design celebrates the small thrill of crossing between states by offering regionally specific food, drink, cultural interpretation, and even a hotel where visitors can choose which state they wake up in—all while enjoying the surrounding mountainous landscape.
